Gripe: Mike Filsaime’s The Resource Report

Not From Cache
Since I was on the subject of gripe (Mike Filsaime vs. GoDaddy), I’ve a gripe of my own over Mike Filsaime’s Resource Report: Mike doesn’t disclose his relationships with some of the resources he recommends. Point in case, ProSender, an autoresponder service. PayDotCom, an affiliate network and directory, just to name another.

Mike secured the private label rights to Aweber and turned it into ProSender. He started PayDotCom and still owns it as far as I know. And here he is recommending them like an independent 3rd party reviewing those 2 resources. Does Mike Filsaime expect everyone reading his report to know that he’s in control of those sites? Does he leave enough clues on the sites themselves for those clueless to find out?

Don’t you feel funny about what he’s doing?

Those 2 resources are great, I agree. I’ve no problem recommending them myself. But somehow, deep in my heart, something just doesn’t feel right. Somehow, tooting your own horn while acting fair just doesn’t go well with me. Shouldn’t there be a difference between promoting an affiliated product and your own product in this respect?

Sigh… I don’t know. Maybe I’m just not fit to be an internet marketer? I’ll leave it to you to ponder.
